Tongue and Tragus Photo Experiences
Part 1: Renee Gets her Tongue Pierced

After moving to a new state, I was really nervous about the idea of looking for a new piercer. I was really attached to my guy Steve in Dallas, Texas, so the idea of having to find someone new to trust with my skin was something I positively dreaded.

I had been wanting to get my tragus pierced for months. I had visited a few studios in Indianapolis and everyone seemed nice enough, but I was still hesitant. Well, they say that word of mouth is a very powerful tool of advertising, and I guess they're right. Here is how it all went down...

Renee talking with Billy before her piercing

Renee getting "clamped"

My friend Renee had been wanting to get her tongue pierced. She already knew exactly who she wanted to do it - her problem was getting up the guts to go through with it. She said this guy Billy at Metamorphosis (Indianapolis, Indiana) had pierced her husband's lobes a few months back and was just "the greatest". I told her I could provide her with the moral support and motivation to get her piercing if she could promise me that "her guy" was really good. She said absolutely, and we made our appointments together.

The day finally arrived and I was totally psyched. I met Renee at Metamorphosis and we filled out our paperwork. Billy was there to greet us and talk to us while we did all that, and I had to admit he seemed really cool! After we did all that, we went back to his work room (which by the way was decorated with some really cool statues and a soothing water fountain).

Ouch! The needle goes in...

Putting the barbell in and securing it

I expected to hop up on the table, get a little pep talk, do the piercing and be out of there. Uh-uh. Not with Billy. Renee was up first for her piercing. The "little pep talk" was a full 15 minutes. Billy took the time to explain absolutely everything Renee should expect with her piercing - what problems she might encounter, how to deal with them, how to care for it, and of course a little chit-chat to keep things friendly and fun. During the piercing, Billy explained every little thing he was doing and why. He took his time to make sure the marks he made for the piercing were absolutely perfect and admitted he is a bit of a perfectionist (which we had no problem with!).

By the time he was ready to actually pierce her tongue, I am confident there is no way she had any unanswered questions. Her only fear remaining was how much it would hurt. That was answered in less than a second and she barely even flinched. She said it hurt, but it was nothing like she expected. It's now been just over a week and she's already talking and eating normal and getting used to her new addict...er, addition.

The finished product!

3D Tattoo App Review
Oct 29th 2012, 11:02

The Bottom Line

Not entirely user friendly, especially for those who aren't web-savvy, but this is a great application with a lot of potential once you figure it out. It's always a good idea to try a temporary version of a tattoo before you take the plunge, and this is one way to see yourself as others would see you and that different perspective is really useful.

Pros

  • Offers several options, most of which are free
  • Even the paid options are very reasonable
  • Avatar creator's ability was highly impressive
  • You can log in directly through your Facebook account

Cons

  • Not the most user friendly for those who aren't web/app savvy
  • Not many pre-loaded tattoo options available
  • Preloaded images sometimes just show blank pages

Description

  • This is a newly developed program so minor glitches are bound to happen from time to time, but it seems pretty reliable.
  • Uses the Evolver Platform and is a web-based application so there's no software to load on your computer.
  • Images can be printed or shared once the avatar has been created.

Guide Review - Web Application Review - 3D Tattoo Preview by Obsessive Ink

When I first heard about the Obsessive Ink 3D tattoo preview application, I knew I had to try it out. It just so happens that I've been working on a facial tattoo design and had actually been wishing that I had access to something just like this. So, I headed over to www.obsessiveink.com to give it a try.

Once you've signed up, you can create an avatar in your likeness. There's two different ways in which you can do this - either use their program to create a face and body similar to your own, or upload a photo of yourself and allow it to create an avatar for you based on your picture. I decided to go the picture route, wanting to test the program for accuracy. I used my camera phone and purposely uploaded a somewhat blurry, not-so-hot image that still fit their guidelines, since I know most people aren't going to have fancy cameras to take sharp images with; I wanted to see just how well the program would adapt. I have to say, I was pretty impressed with the results - I think I have a pretty good idea of what I would look like if I were bald now, and I plan to never shave my head.

Once you have your likeness created, then you can use it to add tattoos and see how they look. Again you have two options - use one of the images they already have available in the application (a very limited selection) or upload an image of your own. There is a fee involved for this option, but it's only $1.99 to upload your own image and it gives you a lot more flexibility when it comes to designing something personal. Again, wanting to test the program's abilities and since I was creating something based on a tattoo I actually want, I chose to upload a drawing that I had done.

This is where I have to say that the program became a little less user friendly. It took me several trips around in circles before I finally figured out how to upload and then add my design to my avatar, which is why I took this short video of how to use the program once I figured it out. In my case, my scan wasn't the greatest so some of the paper surrounding the drawing was included in the final image, but all in all I was pretty impressed with the results and I can see a lot of potential in this application. I'd love it if they'd add the ability to "pierce" your avatar as well - I've been thinking of a septum ring and would love to see beforehand what my (bald) self would look like with one.

Hood Piercing Leads to Romance
Oct 29th 2012, 11:02

I told him that I didn't think it would hurt more than the Brazilian bikini wax, and he agreed and we actually chatted about waxing, as he'd been waxed to show off his tattoos. He claimed that sugaring was the way to go...it hurt less than waxing.

Now, I had an idea that my friend might have been a bit interested in me, but I think she was really enjoying the view of my freshly waxed labia. After he was done marking the spot, I asked if he wouldn't mind taking a photo of my piercing and he asked if I wanted him to take a "before" photo as well--I said "why not" and pulled out the camera and he snapped a photo or two.

After the photo session, he donned a fresh pair of gloves and began preparing the clamp and needle, etc. Now, after working as a vet tech, I took notice that all the instruments were either sterile and disposable or had been autoclaved in steri-paks. This is a very good thing.

Feeling kind of flirtatious (as one might as a cute boy has been paying close attention to her vagina for the past 10 minutes or so), I asked Tyler if my clitoris looked relatively normal compared to the others he had seen. Now, this was the cutest thing because instead of just giving me a half-assed "yes," he actually stopped his preparations and came over to take another look before answering that yes, my clitoris looked in proportion, modestly adding "from what I've seen, anyway." What a sweetie!

So, finally, he was ready to begin the piercing and I grabbed my friend's hand and tried to relax. First he clamped off the area, which, honestly, was kind of pleasant and I am not one for S&M, but the pressure on that area was nice. Then he said he was going to begin the piercing and told me to take a deep breath. Now, folks, the most unnerving part about this whole ordeal was that I couldn't really see what he was doing...I felt the needle go in and it was no big deal...felt the same as having a needle of Novocain injected into your gum. Then he paused and told me to take another deep breath. I was thinking, "this is nothing" and took a shallow breath. He said, "No, take a really deep one." I tried to oblige as he passed the needle through the membrane and out the other side.

Now, folks, for about 2 seconds, the pain was very intense. I made a gasp and said "oh my god" under my breath and squeezed my friend's hand. Now, you guys are going to think I am a big perv that enjoys genitorture (and I am starting to wonder myself), but it was very sexual to me. Not that I was exactly aroused, but being able to look up at this new friend and have her there, witnessing me at my most vulnerable, while this needle pierced me, was very sensual to me.

Next, he pulled the ring through, which is the same thickness (in this case, 14-gauge stainless steel) as the needle and attached to the needle, so it was one fluid motion.

He put the bead on and voila! It was done. He got me a mirror and I took one look and it was like being a kid on Christmas! He took the "after" photo, which showed the one little fingerprint sized smudge of blood from the ordeal and that's it. Then he politely asked if he could take a picture of it with his camera, he didn't think he had a horizontal hood photo in his book; of course, being the exhibitionist I am, I said yes. He then left me alone (well, with my friend) to dress, but I couldn't stop looking in the full-length mirror. Somehow, my vagina, cleanly waxed (which Tyler said made his job VERY easy) and with the silver ring sparkling, looked so incredible. My friend just kept saying, "That looks SOOOO cool."

You guys, this was such an intense, erotic experience. If you are considering such a piercing, I would recommend having your partner there with you...it is a very intimate ordeal and in fact, I later confessed to my friend that I felt that I should have kissed her after going through it with her by my side. She admitted that she had wanted to kiss me as well, at several points during the procedure. It was very, very sensual and it made me understand why some people get multiple piercings. In all honesty, I enjoyed it so much that I would let it grow back again and do it all over...but I like it too much!

So, it's been two days since the piercing and I am very proud of it. I have shown the pics to several of my coworkers (I work for a reproductive rights organization, so its not so odd to talk about vaginas!), my boss, and my male friends who encouraged me to do it. All responses have been positive and one of my friends is now considering one as well.

HMV UK Music Retailer Bans Long Hair and Tattoos in the Workplace
Oct 28th 2012, 14:02

If you're a music lover, have long hair and tattoos and also happen to work at HMV Music, you may no longer. Unless your tattoos can be covered up, they are considered extreme body art and will no longer be permitted in the workplace. Flip flops have also been banned.

New management dictates HMV employees wear new trainers and look clean and neat. This means get a haircut and cover up your tattoos. Is this fair or considered discrimination? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

How to choose a tattoo design

How to Choose a Tattoo Design

Too many times people end up regretting the tattoo they got. Most of the time, this is because they didn't take the time to think about what they were getting. Here are some guidelines to aid you in choosing your design.

Difficulty Level: Average      Time Required: N/A

Here's How:
  1. Consider the reasons why you want the tattoo in the first place.
  2. If you want to be expressive, think about things that you enjoy or have meaning to you.
  3. If your tattoo is to honor someone else, think about the things they enjoy(ed) and have meaning to them.
  4. Look at other tattoos, but don't limit your imagination to what someone else already has.
  5. Look for designs in stationary, books, posters, stickers, and everything else you come across.
  6. If you find something similar to what you want, ask your artist to make whatever changes you want.
  7. Keep in mind the image you choose will be a reflection of yourself.
  8. Be creative. You don't have to draw yourself, but take your ideas to your artist.
  9. Keep in mind how your tattoo may or may not affect your employment.
  10. Decide whether you want your tattoo in black and grey, or full color.
  11. Take your time. This is not something to rush into.
Tips:
  1. Any design or image you find can be altered, or the colors can be changed.
  2. Tattoo artists are exactly that - artists. If you can't draw, they can do it for you.
  3. Your only limitation is your own imagination.

Male Piercings and Sex

For Your Partner's Pleasure
If you're a man and have considered getting a genital piercing for the purpose of pleasuring your partner, you may wonder which piercings provide the most stimulation or how one piercing may be preferred over another by your mate. This is perfectly normal, and frankly commendable considering that one's own pleasure is many times the primary concern when it comes to sex.

Unfortunately, there's no real cut-and-dry response as to which piercing may be the best choice. It can depend on several factors such as the gender of your partner, the nature of your sexual routine, whether or not you use prophylactics (condoms), and whether or not your partner is turned on by the idea of you being pierced. It also should be noted that sometimes it is advisable to remove genital piercings during sex, so the type of piercing you have may be a moot point during the sexual act itself.

Women have two major erogenous zones in the genital region - the clitoris and the elusive "G-spot". Any piercing that comes in contact with either of those areas may improve the stimulation felt there. However, that depends greatly on your technique and ability to stimulate those regions in the first place. A piercing doesn't suddenly turn you into a mad love-making genius. You've got to know what you're doing before you go adding extra hardware to your toolbelt.

If you have a male partner, a piercing that directly stimulates the anus or perineum will probably be the most pleasurable to them. However, since the use of a condom is strongly recommended during anal sex, that may affect how a piercing stimulates your partner.

For Your Pleasure
There's nothing wrong with wanting to get a little extra pleasure out of the sexual experience for yourself, too. If you're interested in getting a piercing that will provide you with more enjoyment, you will need to condsider your own preferences. Where are your erogenous zones? What do you find visually and physically erotic? Which piercing do you think would provide you with the most sexual gratification? It's a very personal decision, and not one anyone else can really help you make.

The best way to come to a decision about what piercing to get is to talk with your partner and fully research the different piercings available. If you try a piercing and find that it doesn't stimulate you or your partner as you had hoped, it can always be removed and another attempt at a different piercing can be made.

The Art of Mehndi - Making Your Own Cones for Applying Henna Paste
Oct 27th 2012, 11:02

Henna paste can be applied several different ways. Some use a toothpick and carefully place the design on bit by bit. Some use little squeeze bottles and apply it in smooth lines. The pre-mixed paste comes in tubes and is squeezed out easily. If you make your own henna paste at home, the choice is yours as to what you are the most comfortable with. I, personally, prefer cones. Cones can also be purchased pre-made, but they are very simple to make at home and also inexpensive. Cones are less messy, and they are disposable afterward so they require no cleanup. Here is a very simple way to make your own cones at home:

What You Will Need:

  • Small freezer bags - one will make 2 cones
  • Scissors
  • Scotch tape
  • Twist ties

Step One: Cut the freezer bag into squares

cutting the freezer bag into squares The size you make the cones is up to you, but you don't want it too big or it will be hard to handle. It also depends on the size of the freezer bags you start with. I usually cut the bags into 6" squares. Use a straight edge to make sure your corners are 90 degrees, as this will help in the actual folding of the cone.

Step Two: Make a funnel shape out of the square

Making a funnel shape out of the square This is not as easy as it sounds. The plastic is very slippery and you will want to wrap the square around itself in such a way that it completely overlaps (leaving no open spaces for the paste to squeeze out). At the same time, you need to leave a small hole at the bottom of the funnel, just large enough to allow the paste to squeeze out without difficulty. This might take some practice and becoming comfortable with the consistency of your henna paste and what size hole is required to get an even flow.

Step Three: Taping the cone

Taping the cone After you get the funnel exactly how you want it, you will need to tape along the side edges where the plastic overlaps. Be careful not to move the plastic when you do this, or you will have to start over again. It's good if you already have a few small pieces of tape ready instead of trying to get it from the dispenser at this time. Tape all the way from the bottom to the top of the funnel.

Step Four: Filling the cone

Filling the cone Now you will want to put your prepared henna paste in the cone. Using a small spoon* seems to be the best way to do this. Carefully place a spoonful of henna paste into the cone, and press your finger lightly against it (from the outside) as you remove the spoon. Repeat until the cone is about half full. Filling too much can cause the cone to be hard to handle and burst due to excessive squeezing. *Note: Never use anything metal with your henna paste - use plastic or glass.

Step Five: Closing the cone

Closing the cone One who is experienced in using the cones (or even in using decorating bags) can usually just twist the end of the cone and apply the paste. This can become quite messy for one that is not used to it, though, because not applying the right amount of pressure and squeezing the proper way can cause the henna to come spilling out the top. The best thing to use in this case would be a twist tie. First, twist the bag itself in the direction of the overlapping fold. Then secure it with a twist tie, and you're ready to go!

And that's it! It takes a little practice, but making your own henna paste and your own cones is less expensive, and creates beautiful henna art without a lot of work.

Top 5 Tattoo Fails
Oct 26th 2012, 11:02

The following top 5 tattoo fails prove you should really think before you ink. From bad meanings to scratcher skills, they're all strange and bad in their unique way. Before you opt for body art, put a little thought into your tattoo pieces. Don't go to a shop drunk or after a bad break-up just to feed a fix. Remember, tattoos are also addictive. Once you have one, you'll understand just how easy it is to want more. Tattoos tell a story, and no matter how good or bad, they entice you to turn the page and keep telling it. The following top 5 tattoo fails should have never printed. Ever.

1. Slot Machines

TRF-Mr. Hyde @ Flickr
Inserting a coin into the slot is a golden choice for anyone living La Vida Loca in places like Las Vegas, rolling high and gambling away the nights. There's lots of lucky casino and jackpot themed tattoo designs but this is not one of them.

2. Fashion Brands

Image courtesy Paul H. @ Flickr
Fashion brands are a tattoo don't! If you must wear a logo, then spend your money on the clothing or the bags, not on permanent body art. This Louis Vuitton print, while classic and stately in design, just doesn't work on anything but waterproof canvas.

3. Car Brands

Put it this way, unless you invented the wheel, try not to wear the tattoo. This Honda brand tattoo is old and faded, but still holds some sentimental value, as most Hondas do. Placed in such a prominent area, this tattoo could be worse. It really could. It could be a Pontiac, or a Saturn and the list could go on. Think twice before you get any sort of name tattoo.

4. Name Tattoos

Inage courtesy teamjimmyjoe

Name tattoos are also a bit of a risk, so why keep making them repeatedly multiple times across your body? This guy obviously likes to go by the name Mr. Ice, and he's even bone-chilling ready to prove it to ya. But who cares really? Do you?

5. Face Tattoos

Let's face it. Nobody really knows what this tattoo is supposed to mean. It looks like maybe this guy is into metaphysical beings, but I'm not so sure. Either way, he shall live the rest of his life with people squinting, tilting their heads in disbelief with their mouths opened, first in amazement, and then concern, rather than checking out his unique green eyes. Epic fail.
