Hair Bleaching Guide Nov 2nd 2013, 11:12, by tattoo.guide@about.com Back To Halloween Menu Page Hair Bleaching Guide (Using the Hot Topic Bleach Kit) Step 1: Getting Ready | Before you start you will need: A clean towel (one that you don't care if it gets bleach on it), a plastic or glass bowl, scissors and a stop-watch or timer. You will also want to wear a shirt that you don't mind if it gets bleach on it. Last but not least, of course you'll need your Hot Topic Bleach Kit. You can see my hair is quite short and it took the whole kit to bleach my hair - if your hair is any longer you will probably need two kits to cover it all. | Step 2: Mixing | Next you will need the scissors to cut open the packet of bleach powder. Carefully pour this into the bowl. You might want to put the gloves on at this point, too. (the kit comes with a pair of plastic gloves) Then, you will want to gradually add the liquid (developer) to the powder. You might not need the whole bottle - I didn't. You only need just enough to make a creamy paste. Use the applicator brush (comes with the kit) to mix the paste as you add the liquid. | Step 3: Applying | Now you'll want to use the applicator brush to apply the bleach. You can do this by yourself, but it's a lot easier if you can get a friend to help you. If you don't want to bleach all of your hair, you can get an applicator cap at a beauty supply store and just pull through the hair that you want to highlight. Start at the back of your head and work your way around and then to the top. Work as quickly as possible so your hair bleaches evenly. | Step 4: Timing | When you bleach your hair, it responds really well to heat. To create a warm environment for your hair, use the plastic cap that comes with the kit. Be sure you get all the hair under the cap and that everything is covered. Then twist the cap at the ends to ensure a tight fit. Use the guide on the back of the kit as to how much time it will take for your hair to lighten. Check your hair often when you get close to your recommended time so you don't over-process or damage your hair. | Step 5: Rinsing | When your hair reaches a satisfactory shade of pale yellow (it is your decision how light you want it, but be careful not to over-process your hair) it is time to rinse the product out. This may take a few minutes, as it is very important you remove all bleach from your hair and skin. After you have rinsed thoroughly, wash your hair with a mild shampoo and rinse again. Towel dry. | | Now you're finished! Here are the results I got - my hair is really dark and it usually comes out dark yellow or light orange. I am so happy with the results I got with the Hot Topic Bleach. If you'd like to get some for yourself, you can order it at their online store at hottopic.com. | Back To Halloween Menu Page |
